Erinn developed biomechanical and mindful practices to refine and enhance equestrian conditioning through 16 years of working with riders of all ages and levels. With more than 25,000 hours of teaching experience in yoga and meditation, decades of study, and lifelong personal practice, she applies sport-specific technique and theory to enhance and compliment the riding experience. "Introduced to yoga & meditation at an early age, they are lifelong daily practices and pillars of my existence. In 2004 I altered my career track from landscape architecture to this calling, and in 2005 earned certification from Kripalu Center to teach yoga and meditation. That year I also established a boutique holistic health & yoga center, the first of it's kind in Maine (where I am from originally). Fifteen years and a move to NY later, throughout my career, I have consistently worked with equestrians. My very first private student 16 years ago was an equestrian. Instantly I was captivated by the transferable concepts from yoga and meditation into the sport-specific applications for riders. Since then, I have conducted thousands of sessions with equestrians. In 2006, after working more closely with Vanessa at a riding center, I felt a calling to create equestriOM. In 2020, we created the "Virtual Saddle" to connect and support riders through pandemic conditions, and by popular demand we are continuing the virtual classes. You can also join us in person for WEF and in Westchester NY for barn calls. Neigh-maste!
Vanessa shares, "I began riding at 7. I fell in love with horses and everything that came along with them from day one.
After college I got a job with Karen and David O’conner , grooming and taking care of their competition horses where I learned everything about elite horse care.
I started working at boulder brook in 2006 teaching , riding and eventually running our show team.
During that time , I started to practice yoga. The teacher would often speak to the idea that what you do on your mat translates into your life, I saw the direct bridge from my mat to my horse. What if I could work with my nerves or push out of my comfort zone on my mat. How would that affect me riding and then my teaching. I started to approach teaching from a space of mindfulness and compassion for both rider and horse. I began to notice differences in my students demeanor on the horse, instead of feeling frustrated and defeated , they would walk out of the ring smiling and empowered. I knew I was onto something , can I approach a riding lesson like a yoga practice.
And then I met Erinn. And she literally had a full system in place that combined mind , body with an intention to empower. She helped me understand how our energy and flow of energy translates directly to our horses. She developed an entire practice dedicated to the rider along with lots of pain relief. Each day I’m more empowered to show up in the ring and on my mat open to the possibility this program can bring."
Originally from Westchester, NY, Tori is a life-long equestrian athlete who discovered a love for yoga two years ago with a dedicated equestriOM practice. Before introducing yoga into her life, Tori struggled to feel centered, loose, and focused. Now, Tori notices significant shifts in her riding and overall mindset after including it in her everyday schedule. Something Tori appreciates most about equestriOM is how it leads her mind and body to feel much more connected. She truly believes that equestriOM helps with every type of physical activity and improves your mindfulness in everyday life. Tori is certified for guiding equestriOM virtual classes following training tutorials with Erinn combined with intensive work with Vanessa. She looks forward to sharing the joyful empowering practices of equestriOM with you!
